About Us.

Epworth Studios is home to artist studios and workspaces based in the former Wesleyan Methodist Church in Liskeard. Founded by ceramicist Kit and curator/designer Katie, the project brings new life to a historic building while creating much-needed space for artists and makers in the South-east of the County.

The name ‘Epworth’ carries both personal and historic significance: it is the birthplace of John Wesley, founder of Methodism, and the name of Katie’s grandfather’s family home. Our approach to this project draws on this connection of the past and present, honouring the building’s heritage whilst opening it up to new uses.

Our aim is to provide a sustainable resource that will help artists, makers and the wider community to thrive, through high-quality studios and workspaces that support creative practice in Cornwall.

Carrying out the renovation work themselves, Kit and Katie and are committed to sympathetically restoring the building in stages. As the project develops, more areas of the building will be reopened for public use, offering flexible spaces for collaboration, production and cultural activity.
